Texas 254 Women
A Leader in Every County
We believe that there are inspirational women everywhere. Texas 254 Women is an on-going project that highlights one incredible woman from each of the Lone Star State's counties. We share their stories and experiences as leaders on the frontlines of Texas politics.

Carol Alvarado serves in the Texas Senate District 6—covering portions of Harris County. She previously served in the overlapping Texas House of Representatives District 145 and Houston City Council.

Webb County
Jessica Cisneros
As the daughter and sister of immigrants, Jessica prides herself on advocating for her bicultural community in South Texas. She taps into her bicultural perspective as a Mexican American to advocate for her potential constituents.

Collin County
Nyx Mendoza
Nyx Mendoza has worked on twelve campaigns across North Texas in the short span of three years. She is a campaign guru that the political community in the area knows by name.

Wood County
Lucy Hebron
Lucy Hebron is the first woman elected County Judge in Wood County, a small county in East Texas. Her passion for liberty and justice stems from her grandparents’ lives in war-torn Europe.

Denton City County
Vicki Byrd
Born and raised in a predominantly Black neighborhood in South Houston, Byrd saw that a lot of people in her community didn’t have the opportunity to grow beyond the environment they were brought up in.
